Veteran comedian turned activist Eric Omondi has been arraigned at the Milimali Law Courts days after he was arrested. Eric Omondi was arraigned in court but was later released. The father of one was on Friday, November 15 arrested, at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) as he prepared to travel to Dar es Salaam.
notifying the public of his arrest, Eric took to his Instagram, where he wrote: “I have been arrested at JKIA just before I boarded a flight to Dar es Salaam. As a Brand Ambassador for Skyward, we were launching the inaugural Dar es Salaam flight. Upon handing over my passport, the immigration officers informed me that there is a Stop Order and that I cannot travel and I have to be detained.”
Has Eric Omondi been released However, in a video shared on TikTok by Whispers Wire, the comedian was spotted in all smiles as he wore a faded denim jacket, a black T-shirt, and sweatpants. He was also handcuffed with another man with whom he walked behind other Kenyans who were being arraigned in court. The celebrated comedian was charged with causing disruptions along Parliament Road.
However, a close source told TUKO.co.ke that Eric looked stressed when he entered the court but was let go. “Eric appeared very stressed. It seems the recent arrest has put him down, and he didn’t smile as usual during the hearing. He was given a KSh 5000 cash bail and let go,” confirmed the close source.
