Media personality Liz Jackson has come to the aid of a 17-year-old street hawker. Via Insta Stories, the beauty shared a video of Lawrence. Why did Liz Jackson help street hawker? She revealed she met him, and he respectfully asked her to buy his sweets. “I met this 17-year-old boy. He was selling sweets to pay his rent and lives alone. I have called his landlord and paid his two-month rent. God bless you, Lawrence, and see you soon,” Liz wrote on her Insta Stories.
In an interview with TUKO.co.ke, Liz said Lawrence touched her since he was respectful, unlike other hawkers. According to the podcaster, Lawrence dropped out of school in Form One and lives alone in Dohnholm.
His mother lives in Nyeri, but he doesn’t know where his father is. “His story touched me because he respectfully asked me to buy sweets from him. When I shared his number, other people sent him money; by this morning, he had received KSh 5,000. He told me he wanted to start selling clothes, and he had already gone to Gikomba to purchase stock,” Liz said.
The bubbly journalist vowed to stick around Lawrence until his life gets better. “I just hope his life will transform. He gave me his number, and now it’s easier to do the follow-up. Hopefully, I’ll go and see his place,” she said.
