Tems Reveals Favourite Rap Artist/Desire to Meet Them

Grammy-award-winning artist Tems has shared her deep admiration for veteran American rapper and business mogul Dwayne Michael Carter, Junior famously known as Lil Wayne noting he is the one artist she is most definitely looking forward to meeting.

The 29-year-old soulful Afro beats, RnB singer and record producer further shared her deep love for hip-hop and rap revealing her brother introduced her to the genre when she was really young.

Speaking during a guest appearance she made on The Cruz Show podcast recounting how she used to cosplay as the legendary artist and record producer as she sang along to his lyrics. 

“My brother is the one that introduced by to rap because he used to listen to a lot of rap music…That’s how I got the influences,” the ‘Free Mind’ crooner joyfully shared. 

Walking down memory she narrated, “I used to pretend to be Lil Wayne when I was younger,” as she went ahead to name her top 4 favourite hits from the former YMCMB founder who also goes by the moniker.

As per the Oscar nominee, “Mrs. Officer’, ‘Mr. Carter’, ‘Comfortable’, and ‘Hustle Music’ as some of her favourite Lil Wayne songs.

On if she had a rap voice as she is known for her deep melodic high notes the BET award winner revealed she actually does. However, she was reluctant to showcase that side to the public. 

“It is a little cringe,” Tems lightly added in between chuckles.

Finishing up she shared her deep desire to meet the New Orleans rapper highlighting she’d be so pleased if the meetup was to happen soon. 

Tems rose to prominence after being featured on Wizkid’s 2020 hit single “Essence”, which peaked at number 8 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart following the release of the remix version with Justin Bieber.

She has gone ahead to work with A-list Hollywood stars such as Lauryn Hill, Rihanna, J. Cole and Coldplay  just to mention a few.
