Lessons Terryanne Chebet Learnt from Citizen TV Retrenchment

TV Host Terry Anne Chebet

Former TV Host Terry Anne Chebet was laid off 8 years ago. At the time she was heavily pregnant with her second child. For years the date of the retrenchment would bring bad memories.

She has since overcome the bad memories.

Taking to her social media, Terryanne shared lessons and tips she has adopted to embrace her new journey.

“Eight years ago, on October 26th, my life took an unexpected turn during a retrenchment exercise. But this year, for the first time, I FORGOT the anniversary entirely. 🎊🎊🎊 Every previous year was marked by a wave of emotions—some heavy, some hopeful. This year, I feel free, excited, and truly moved forward! So, I thought I’d share some lessons I’ve learned through the years;”

Here’s what I’d do differently ( and what I live by today)

📍Get back to school immediately—and keep going. Learning is a powerful tool for resilience.

📍Find mentorship and coaching. Invest in yourself by learning from those who’ve been there.

📍Start each day with purpose. Get out of bed, dress well, and feel confident in every step.

📍Embrace a growth mindset. See each challenge as a step, not a setback.

📍 Build a strong support network. Be intentional about mentors; spend time with people who uplift and inspire.

Terryanne further advised that given a chance she would trust the process. “Celebrate small wins. Progress is often subtle, and it deserves acknowledgment.

Trust the process.

Every day won’t be perfect, but consistency is key. Revisit and set new goals often. Keep your vision fresh and forward-focused.

Prioritize self-care and mental well-being.

A resilient mind is the foundation of success. Remember your ‘why’. Let purpose fuel you on days that feel harder. These are not just lessons—they are reminders to keep growing, keep striving, and keep reaching for new heights.”
