Several people are feared dead following the collapse of a building in Kahawa West, Nairobi county. They said rescue efforts are ongoing as authorities work to assess the extent of the damage and potential casualties.
“A multi-agency response team is currently responding to a building collapse in Kahawa West, Nairobi County, where people are feared trapped,” Kenya Red Cross said. Unconfirmed reports from the residents indicate that NCA had marked the building unsafe, and people were advised to vacate. Residents had detected the weakness in the building and had mobilised people to evacuate moments before it collapsed.
A video seen by TUKO.co.ke captured the moment the building collapsed as residents ran for safety. The video showed the residents warn those near there to move away moments before it came down amid screams.
