Mwea Residents Watch as Cows Feast on MP’s Rice Plantation after She Supported Gachagua’s Ouster

 

A video of Mwea residents nonchalantly spectating after a herd of cows stormed a rice plantation allegedly belonging to the area MP has emerged on social media. The residents did not intervene after cows invaded a rice plantation believed to belong to their MP. What happened at a Mwea rice plantation? A video showing the residents unbothered as the cows invaded a piece of land follows Rigathi Gachagua’s impeachment, which has raised political temperatures in the Mt Kenya region. In the now-viral clip, a man recording the incident claimed that he and his fellow villagers were just watching without interrupting the cows because they were displeased with the MP’s decision to support the ouster.

  “The cows are feasting on the rice, as you can see. We are all here watching. Even the police officers are here, as you can see. We are watching to ensure no one touches the mountain,” a Mwea man said. In the background, chants of ‘ hapana guza murima’ could be heard. Kenyans call out Mwea residents Kenyans have reacted to the video, and here is what some of them had to say: Milly Mwash said: “Very painful. I witnessed this.” Njeri wrote: “This is not very clever of you all. Won’t you go seeking bursaries from her.” Moses Kimathi said: “Now, you are destroying yourself. This food does not belong to the MP. It belongs to all Kenyans.”
