George Kiprono Kili, a celebrated farmer from Uasin Gishu county, is the definition of a grass to grace. George Kiprono Kili made significant contributions to agriculture in Uasin Gishu county. Who is George Kiprono Kili? The entrepreneur rose from a school dropout to a business owner employing around 100 people. According to Business Daily, Kili dropped out of school in Form Two to become a mechanic. Using proceeds from his work, Kili aggressively saved money and used it to get into farming.

He would lease land to plant crops and eventually purchase his land. The entrepreneur steadily increased the size of his land while leasing farm equipment to other farmers to increase his income sources. Despite his success in farming, Kili and other farmers suffer at the hands of middlemen buying produce at a throwaway price. Around 2018, he identified an opportunity and established his maize milling plant in Eldoret. He spent KSh 50 million to set up the Buffallo Millers to add value to maize. The plant solved not only his but also other farmers’ issues with the cartels.

Kili also set up a wheat milling plant, trading his flours under the name Mfalme. Two months ago, President William Ruto awarded Kili, the owner of Komool Farm, the Order of the Grand Warrior (OGW) in recognition of his remarkable contributions to agriculture and lasting impact on the local farming community. The ceremony took place on Thursday, August 15, 2024, when Ruto officially conferred city status on Eldoret Municipality.
