Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has indirectly criticized President William Ruto over MPs’ push to impeach him. .Why Gachagua thinks he is not useful to Ruto In a televised press briefing on Monday, October 7, Gachagua called the ongoing push to impeach him a betrayal. The deputy president alluded that a decision had been made that he was no longer useful to the Kenya Kwanza administration. He suggested that Ruto only used him to fight former president Uhuru Kenyatta to defeat the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party in the 2022 polls. He alluded that given that Ruto won the election, he sees Gachagua as no longer useful. ” I’m being haunted on nonsensical allegations simply because a decision has been made that Gachagua is no longer useful to this administration.

I am now seen as a spent cartridge. My role was to help fight Uhuru Kenyatta and bring Ruto to power but now that mission is over. They ant to discard me and appoint someone else, disregarding the will of Kenyans. This is what we call political deceit, conmanship, and betrayal,” Gachagua said. While defending himself against all the allegations, Gachagua claimed the push to impeach him was based on propaganda and other hidden political considerations. “It is very important that the people who elected me as DP get my response of the very outrageous accusations against their DP that have no basis, that is sheer propaganda, that is a scheme to hound me out of office because of other political considerations and has nothing to do with the violation of the Constitution,” the DP added. How Gachagua asked Ruto for forgiveness Gachagua’s brutal remarks come a day after publicly pleading with the president to forgive him.

During a church service on Sunday, October 6, at the National Prayer Altar at his official residence, Gachagua pleaded with Ruto to forgive him if he had offended him in any way. Gachagua also asked the president to forgive his spouse, Dorcas Rigathi, referring to her recent engagement programs, which include spearheading boys’ rights in the country.  In his address, the embattled deputy president said his intention has never been to disappoint anyone. The second in command also extended the forgiveness quest to members of parliament who are set to discuss his impeachment motion.
