Families have been thrown in mourning after two athletes were involved in a fatal accident on Interstate 80 between La Grange Road and Harlem Avenue in Tinley Park. Two athletes were reportedly on their way home when the tragic accident happened (photo for illustration). How did the Tinley Park accident occur? The two best-friend athletes, identified as 20-year-old Tyler Koscinski and 19-year-old Mason Santiago, were on their way from the university when the tragedy struck. “They were best friends…They were goofballs together. They had fun together and danced and played competitive sports against each other,” Koscinski’s mother said.
Police told NBC that the accident occurred when the athlete’s Dodge Journey SUV and a truck-tractor semi-trailer were involved in a fatal collision. They added that the SUV was traveling west when the tragic collision occurred that day. The two men killed had been friends since grade school, their families said. What did families of the athletes say? According to a report by ABC, Koscinski’s mother, Kelly, said her son was the light of their family. “He’s a phenomenal brother, athlete and just a goofy, fun kid that loved everyone,” Kelly said. Koscinski’s father revealed that his son dreamed of becoming a PE teacher or a coach but did not live long enough to realise that dream. Santiago’s family said their son was passionate and loved everyone.
