Police are investigating the death of a Form 2 student who allegedly died by suicide in Nakuru.

The student died in his aunt’s house in Rongai, Nakuru, on Tuesday, police said.

Witnesses and police said he hanged himself using a rope, which was tied to the roof rafters of the house.

No suicide note was found and the motive is yet to be known.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending postmortem.

In Maragua, Murang’a county, Brian Kamande, 20, allegedly died by suicide.

He hanged himself using a piece of cloth that was tied to the rafters in his bedroom.

No suicide note was found when police visited the scene.

The body had no visible injuries. It was moved to Murang’a Level 5 Hospital mortuary.

In Awendo, Migori county, police said Sila Ogaja Onyango, 45, died by suicide after hanging himself with a rope tied to rafters of his rental house.

No suicide note was found and the body, which had no visible injuries, was moved to Rapcom mortuary.

Cases of suicide have been on the rise amid calls to address the worrying trend.

Police say up to two cases are reported daily.

The World Health Organization says such cases are attributed to joblessness, death of a loved one, academic failure or pressure, legal difficulties and financial problems.

Other reasons are bullying, previous suicide attempts, history of suicide in a family, alcoholism and substance misuse, depression and bipolar disorder.
