Raburu shares pain of dealing with child loss 5 years on

Media personality and entrepreneur Willis Raburu

Media personality and entrepreneur Willis Raburu also known as Bazu recently shared how he still mourns for his daughter Adana, whom he shared with ex-wife Marya Prude.

Adana was pronounced dead at birth on 31st December 2019, and the loss plagues the TV show host years on.

Speaking with Parents Magazine Willis opened up on how invested he was in the pregnancy, the visions and dreams he had for his daughter but mostly how terribly he, “feels he was robbed,”

The entertainer was a proud dad, he couldn’t wait to introduce his little bundle of joy to his favourite football team… Manchester United.

He’d even shopped for Man U onesies and other garments for his little one but all his dreams were terribly cut short when the nurses informed them the little one was a stillbirth.

“It was like an out-of-body experience, I couldn’t understand what they were telling me. I held my baby cold… I called her many times but she did not answer me back, she did not cough, she did not cry. There was no miracle as I was hoping for,” Willis recalled one of his most heartbreaking moments detailing how it left him completely broken with a gaping hole in his chest. Especially since even while she rested, she resembled him a ton.

“For me as a dad, I felt like I was robbed of that opportunity. I asked myself, I’m I still a dad? And the baby looked exactly like me. I look at the pictures till today and 100% she was just me. She had the Raburu nose…  And in that moment you know it makes you… I don’t even know how I’m able to talk about it now, I think its just time.

It takes me back to how life can just flip. It was such a darkness, I remember at that time telling God, ‘Okay, you win,'” the former 10 over 10 host added.

He went on to detail how 5 years on the memories still spring up on him triggered by the simplest of things, taking him back to that devastating loss.

“Sometimes when I am passing through the supermarkets’ fridges and that cold hits me, I flinch. It gets in there,” Willis candidly said.

Touching on the battle of child loss, the former Citizen TV presenter weighed in on how people almost always console the mom, he understands the why but it stings that people do not check on the dad.

Willis voiced men have it bad as well because as providers they look into the future, everything they want to provide, and so on.

In 2020, just months after losing their first child together, Willis and Marya separated.
