Five-year-old Tabitha Chumba Cherotich from Bomet County

Five-year-old Tabitha Chumba Cherotich from Bomet County has gone viral after photos of her planting trees surfaced online. Bomet: 5-Year-Old Girl Wows Kenyans for Her Passion in Trees After Being Evicted from Mau Forest  The Grade One student at Lelboinet Primary School in Siongiroi was among the enthusiastic participants in the recent re-afforestation efforts of Chepalungu Forest. Tabitha’s photos were shared online by Ravine News, capturing the hearts of Kenyans nationwide.  The remarkable young girl doted a beautiful smile, masking the fact that she carries an inspiring story of resilience and determination. Details indicate that Tabitha and her family were evicted from the Mau Forest two years ago, forcing them to start life afresh. Raised by a single mother who now toils in the fields of Narok to provide for her family, she currently lives with her grandmother. Despite these challenges, her spirit remains unbroken, and her actions speak volumes of her character. As photos of her tiny hands planting trees went viral, Kenyans praised her as a young patriot, a symbol of hope, and the promise of a greener future. They reiterated that her contribution to the re-afforestation project is a testament to her sense of duty to her country and future generations. Benard Zulu: “Wow! Young girl just be splendid in your studies and help your siblings.” Gen Mabruk: “Hapo kwa eviction has touched me bro, and the girl is here happily planting a tree. Let her get blessed.” Rotich Ben: “This is great work, the government should recognize her in the coming Mashujaa day celebration this year.” Tree-planting holiday Tabitha’s photos went viral on Friday, May 10 when President William Ruto declared a public holiday for Kenyans to plant trees. One of the president’s main focus areas is making the country green, with his eyes set on planting 10 billion trees.
