Mr Josphat Wanaina Njenga, a matatu driver from Forward Travelers operating on the Kayole route, has become the latest millionaire in town. Njenga was flanked by other matatu drivers as he went for the unveiling ceremony. Njenga recently clinched over 3.4 million Kenyan shillings in bonus winnings from the SportPesa Mega Jackpot. Njenga had never won in 7 years According to SportPesa Care, the patient punter joined the betting site in 2017 but had never experienced a win until March 2024. Fortune finally smiled upon him when he correctly predicted 15 out of 17 matches, securing him the life-changing prize. “I was home following the last match on the line-up, as soon as it ended, I was certain about winning the bonus,” he said. Njenga added that he received a text from SportPesa informing him that he had won a bonus shortly after the matches ended. Njenga, wife, didn’t believe they’d won Accompanied by his supportive wife, Esther Kariuki, Njenga shared their initial disbelief at the win. She disclosed that they doubted at first and only believed the news after getting to the SportPesa offices. Looking ahead, Njenga, a business-minded individual, outlined his plans for the money. He intends to use part of his winnings to repair his bus, enabling him to expand his matatu business. Bonus winners unveiled on Valentine’s Day Two Sportpesa gamblers missed the elusive KSh 349 million after each missed one out of 17 correct predictions. Despite the loss, the company awarded them bonuses, unveiling them in the Nairobi city centre on February 14. Among the winners was Paul Mwasya from Makueni County, a family man with a wife and three children. Mwasya walked away with an impressive KSh 2,295,125 by accurately predicting the outcome of 12 out of 13 matches. SportPesa’s mega jackpot millions have remained unreachable for months, with every attempt ending at the 16th match.
