President William Ruto on Saturday called on Kenyans who are yet to take advantage of the Arizona online scholarships to do so.

Addressing the Youth Connekt Africa Summit at KICC, Ruto congratulated a group of young individuals who successfully completed their scholarships, receiving certificates.

He acknowledged that his announcement during the previous year’s Jamhuri Day celebrations may have seemed unreal and expressed gratitude to those who embraced the challenge by enrolling in educational programs.

“I remember announcing during Jamhuri day last year, it didn’t look real then but today we have evidence that it is reality, we have graduants here today, graduating with certificates,” Ruto said.

“To those of you who have not experienced this chance the chance is still open, the address is still the same, get online and improve your careers,” Ruto added.

The Head of State in December last year announced that everyone present in the stadium for the Jamhuri Day celebrations would get a scholarship on Global Entrepreneurship and Innovation from Thunderbird School of Global Management at Arizona State University.

Ruto noted that a 16-unit course that would have cost one Sh100,000 was now accessible to Kenyans at the stadium for free courtesy of Jamhuri Day celebrations.

To access the scholarship, Ruto asked the attendees to scan the QR codes near them.

ICT and Digital Economy Principal Secretary John Tanui had announced a day earlier that Kenyans would get a free scholarship if they attend Jamhuri Day celebrations.

Ruto on Saturday said life is a journey in learning and challenged all Kenyans to keep learning and expanding their horizons and make sure they have a competitive advantage.

“From me and from the many who will come into this space congratulations to you for having the courage, the innovation, the creativity to step into new spaces, get new training, expand your scope of knowledge, understanding, experience new ways of doing things,” the President said.

Ruto presented certificates to graduates who had successfully completed free online courses.
