Kipchirchir, Reline reign supreme in Chemususu Half Marathon
Anthony Kipchirchir and Catherine Reline are the 2023 champions for the Chemususu Half Marathon that took place on Saturday, October 11, 2023.
Reline, who is also the 2023 World Athletics Road Running Championships bronze medallist and Kipchirchir beat competitors in their respective races to emerge champions in Eldama Ravine, Baringo County.
Reline emerged as the winner in 1:12:18, and this is an improvement for her after finishing second in the last edition.
After finishing in third place during the 2023 Road Championship in Riga, Latvia, behind Peres Jepchirchir and Margaret Kipkemboi, Reline reigned supreme in the Chemususu course, a testament to personal improvement.
"I wasn't prepared well, as I had been on rest since returning from Riga. I challenged myself to try the course before resuming training. It feels good to win the race.
"I have one more race to prepare for in the year, as I am scheduled to run in Brazil next month. However, my focus is on next year's Olympics, where I intend to represent my country," Reline said, as quoted by a local publication, after winning the race.

Kipchirchir outclass rivals
Meanwhile, Kipchirchir, 19, outclassed both experienced and upcoming rivals to emerge as the winner in the men's category.
He cut the tape after running in 1:03:35 and was followed by Jackson Kipleting, who finished his race in 1:04:09, while Emmanuel Bor claimed the last podium slot and came in third in 1:04:36.
"This was my first half-marathon race. I go home a happy man after the win, as it means a lot to me.
"I trained on a hilly course in Iten so as to be among the top three athletes. My aim is to win international races and represent Kenya on the track where I specialize in 5000m," Kipchirchir said.
Kipchirchir and Reline will pocket Ksh250,000 each for emerging as the winners of the half marathon.
