Ati Sh100 million!? Netizens bitterly divided about how much money Sol Fest made

Sauti Sol's Sol Fest concert will arguably go down as one of Kenya's biggest-ever shows!  Not only did it deliver as far as the performers and music went, but also for the sold-out crowd that the band estimated at 15,000 strong.

Since then, many Kenyans have speculated how much the band might have made from such an 'outwardly' successful concert.

One particular X user going by the name of WanjiiiTr postulated that the concert had earned close to Sh 100 million in revenue.

This should trigger your mind…

600 VIP tickets for 20K = 12M

400 more for 25K = 10M

600 Fan tickets for 6.5k = 3.9M

13.5K regulars for 3.5k = 47.250M

2K more for 4.5k = 9M

Partnership/ vendors/ grants = 15M

Approx = 97.15M Perfect scenario for yrs of investment.

Paul Mwago @P_Mwago Really? I've heard severally from different sources Nairobi's paying concert market is about 3,000 people. And I tend to think it may be true.

1.7KW4N74L4@WanjiiiTr· I had friends from as far as Meru. 3,000 is an understatement. Plus that crowd? That CROWD?

1.5KAraphart_Real.@FarajHassan19· Ebu fanya Minus hapo sasa...?

W4N74L4@WanjiiiTr· Minus 15M (Max) on Bills we bakisha 82.15M. Still on target.3

YOUnique Man@GeorgeYOUniq_Right on mark Had estimated around 100m

1.5KW4N74L4@WanjiiiTr·Bright minds...

Chief Kivoi@ChiefKivoi_When Nyashinski said "Nikipenya mnapenya but your eyes can't see.." If the industry gate keepers could support real talent we could be having 10-20 artists with this kind of economic force. That's huge.

dude of nare@sundayy000· Siet,,, akili mtu wangu

THE DUKE OF BURUMBA@Am_Allano·Jaba..No event ..I repeat No event ever..can get your money back through ticket sales,However "Successful" it may look from outside, Zaa ndaniii hizi..Take it to bank

302kiarie@EngPKiarie I doubt the 15K figure they gave. But undoubtedly this was one of the few events in Nairobi that actually made profits in the range of tens of millions.

Schlong@realEmbokoh Do you know what a 10k crowd looks like? The crowd was at best 3k

Cleophas@QatQiZa· Mahesabu ya jaba. Anyway, these concerts usually make more from endorsements than they do gate collections. Plus the logistics and planning would consume 85% of the revenues. You are making it look like people collect money from the gate and walk away with it.

201W4N74L4@WanjiiiTr·Logistics & Planning: 85%? Well done.

What do you think?
