Philanthropist Kevin Otiende is on a mission to change the life of a homeless man who lives in the tunnel that leads to Prof Wangari Maathai Road (Forest Road).  Nairobi: Kevin Otiende Searching for Homeless Man Who Sleeps in Tunnel on Wangari Maathai Road Source: Facebook In a post on Facebook, the businessman disclosed that he has been seeing the man sleep there but never had a chance to stop or talk to him. He has mostly been kept off by the fact that the street man is based at the curve of the tunnel, which is a partial blind spot and, therefore, too dangerous to stop. Otiende revealed that the man has been there for years, essentially making it his home and that for the first time, he had a chance to view his belongings. "Looks like he mostly chews muguka (khat). The presence of milk packets and soda suggests people occasionally throw food at him," he wrote. Otiende revealed that whenever he sees the homeless fella, he imagines he was once a happy baby boy being nurtured by his mother. "He probably had dreams and ambitions, but life did that thing, and as others retreat to their cosy homes, his day ends here," he continued. Touched by his plight, the kindhearted entrepreneur offered to change his life, but he had no idea how to reach out to him. He requested his followers to talk to him and determine what his story is then he would find the resources to help reform him. The post garnered a host of reactions as social media users commended him for choosing to be a destiny helper to the stranger. Eric Ruchuu: "Otiende, if you are able to change that man's life, you are truly a blessing to this world." Ambas K. Njamba: "This is amazing. I hope you find him. But just don't go there alone looking for him; there could be thugs around." Liz Shiko: "Kenya needs people like you as leaders. People who think of others in a good way." Fire cane enterprises "I have been seeing the same man, but now how do you reach him? Anyway, I will try." Otiende paid fees for needy students In another act of philanthropy in July this year, Otiende embarked on a remarkable mission to pay school fees for underprivileged students as a tribute to his late brother. With an unwavering commitment to making education accessible to those in need, he offered to provide financial support to deserving students who face obstacles in pursuing education. The inspiration for the noble endeavour stemmed from a heart-wrenching plea made by Kevin's older brother just a month before his death years ago.    BY TUKO NEWS
