Bolton Bosire graduated from the Africa Nazarene University and kept himself busy with the eggs and smokies vending on the streets of Nairobi as he waited to get a job. The business, which he started in June 2023, boomed within a short period thanks to his good customer relations and communication. How Bosire secured KSh 100k scholarship The 23-year-old said he developed a passion for studying catering courses at Boma International Hospitality College (BIHC). "I wanted to join that school, so on Monday, I posted a tweet that went viral and thought that was the best time to approach the situation. So I asked tweeps to support me join catering at Boma International College and boom, Boma from nowhere responded," said Bosire in ana exclusive interview with TUKO.co.ke. The university offered Bosire a partial scholarship award of KSh 100,000 on the total tuition fee for the programme starting January 2024. Twitter users start contributing towards Bosire's course Bosire will be studying for a 2-year Diploma in Culinary Arts that costs up to KSh 1 million, which he said tweeps have started contributing to support him. "I will be adding something on top of the scholarship. Some money was contributed by tweeps yesterday, and they are continuing so that I can join. "The course needs like KSh 1 million to complete. By the end of the month, that's when we will confirm how much has been contributed," he revealed. He explained that the fees for the first year are estimated at around KSh 520,000 and the second year at KSh 555,000. Bosire maintains eggs, smokies business The young entrepreneur noted he will carry on with his business as he studies, adding that he has employed two people. He affirmed his plan to expand his business is still on, awaiting a go-ahead by the Nairobi city council. "I have two workers who will be in control of the business while I will be inspecting it every evening. I pay them KSh 500 per day. "Education opens up your mind to different perspectives. Don't limit your education because you haven't gained money from it," Bosire advised youth. Nairobi County taxes for egg vendors He called on the Nairobi governor, Johnson Sakaja, to consider the licencing option to allow traders a time frame of opening eggs joint and avoid collision with the county council. Bosire earlier revealed that part of the returns he has to pay include the city council fee for the space where he sets his trolley daily. He said the rates vary depending on the number of hours you take carrying out your business. "If you have worked from 2pm to the next day, you pay like KSh 300 to KSh 400. You also pay a dumping fee of KSh 200... You can get home with your KSh 3,000," he noted.   BY TUKO NEWS
