President William Ruto has been urged to intervene and unite wrangling leaders in Kisii County for the sake of the region’s development.

Speaking at Nyanturago stadium on Sunday during the president’s visit, Kisii Senator Richard Onyoka said that the political feud witnessed between Azimio and Kenya Kwanza leaders is derailing development in the region.

“President William Ruto, please intervene, there is too much violence in Kisii involving leaders, especially between the ruling party United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM),” Senator Onyoka said.

Senator Onyoka says it is high time for all the elected leaders in the region to work together and collaborate with the national government despite their political differences.

“Your Excellency you are the president now and leader of this nation, invite us to the statehouse and talk to your leaders. All we are asking is for our leaders to be united for the betterment of the Kisii People,” He urged.

National Assembly majority Whip Silvanus Osoro said he is ready to work with all leaders for the sake of the county’s development.

“I have no problem with my brother Simba Arati, let’s us work together,” he said, announcing that he is ready to lead a visit to State House to meet the president.

Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu said it is time the two leaders set aside their difference for the sake of unity and development.

“The president is ready to listen to us on the kind of development we want in our region but that can’t happen if we continue fighting on the ground,” he said.

National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah said democracy allows leaders to align to any political side, “but that doesn’t you disrespect each other and cause violence.”

“Allow the government to work and do its job for the citizens of this country. We are not looking forward to any handshake,” he stated.

Arati has assured that the Opposition will allow the president to work, but that dies not compromise their resolve to embark on campaigns ahead of the next elections set for 2027.

“We should not fight because of our political differences! Let us learn to forgive and work with each other, stop fighting each other because we are children of the same mother,” he said, “we will still politick ahead because that is our constitutional right.”

“Don’t mind the noise from the Opposition! If you get distracted we will blame your leadership regime,” Arati said.    BY CAPITAL NEWS
