Sauti Sol joins exclusive American association

 

Sauti Sol has continued to make history. The Kenyan group has been invited to join the recording academy as voting members.

The Recording Academy is an American-learned academy of musicians, producers, recording engineers, and other musical professionals. It is famous for its Grammy Awards, which recognize achievements in the music industry of songs and music which are popular worldwide.

Taking to social media, Sauti Sol captioned;

"Welcome to the Recording Academy Class of 2023. 👏🏾🎉Congratulations to @bienaimesol @iamchimano @itsmefancyfingers and @savarafrica on their invitation to join the @recordingacademy as Voting Members.The newly invited members epitomize the Recording Academy's mission to reflect the vibrant global music community we proudly serve. #IAMTheAcademy."

This comes as the group is on their tour after successful performances in Kenya, Uganda and different states in America and Europe.

In a statement, the group has recently announced a small hiatus.

"While the indefinite hiatus marks the end of a specific chapter, it also represents a new beginning for Sauti Sol. As close friends and business partners, the band members, Bien-Aime Baraza, Willis Chimano, Polycarp Otieno, and Savara Mudigi, are eager to explore fresh creative avenues and embark on personal endeavours."

They added that their friendship and shared vision will continue to be the driving force behind their future projects. 

 "Sauti Sol has been an incredible journey for us, both as musicians and friends."

"We are filled with gratitude for the love and support we have received throughout the years. While we take this hiatus to pursue our individual and collective passions, we remain committed to our friendship and our shared businesses. The bond between us is unbreakable, and we are excited for what the future holds," read the statement.
