Mother And Son Duo Arrested For Allegedly Killing Man, Dumping Body In A Dam

A 56-year-old woman and her son are being detained by police in Bomet County after they are accused of conspiring to murder her husband in the Chepanyiny area of the Chepalungu sub-county of Bomet.

The 63-year-old man's body was discovered inside a private dam in the village where he is said to have been dumped after being killed elsewhere.

The suspects, Evaline Cheruiyot and her 24-year-old son Zephania Bett, were rescued by police after members of the public attempted to lynch them, according to Chepalungu sub county police boss Phanton Analo.

According to reports, the son admitted to his father's murder after being questioned by concerned neighbors.

"We are not revealing the police station they are being held at due to their security, we cannot say they are behind the murder till the investigation is completed," added Analo.

"Even if the son has confessed to having participated in the heinous act, that shouldn't be the reason. We are combing all areas that will give us enough evidence and to know what exactly happened" said the police boss.

Analo went on to say that the DCI officers are looking into all options, including requesting permission for an exhumation in order to determine the cause of death.

According to reports, the deceased, Joseph Cheruiyot, was hurriedly buried a week ago without the knowledge of the police.   BY CITIZEN DIGITAL
