I'll oppose Finance Bill no matter what – MP Otiende Amollo

Rarieda MP Otiende Amollo has said he will vote against the Finance Bill 2023 which is being highly campaigned for by President William Ruto.

Through his Twitter handle on Monday, Amollo said will not be threatened into voting for the finance bill since he is bound to serve Kenyans.

"For the avoidance of doubt, I will oppose the finance bill. My primary obligation is to the constitution," Amollo said.

"The voters and the nation all require me to oppose. Roads and amenities are for Kenyans, not MPs. The world of threats passed by."

This comes after Ruto announced that he will go after MPs who will oppose the finance bill when it is tabled in parliament on June 15, 2023.

He said that every leader agrees that the housing levy proposed in the Finance Bill is good for the country.

"We need to pass this bill so Kenya can develop. There are some suggestions that MPs should disclose how they voted when the bill is tabled in parliament, but personally, I am waiting to see any MP who will shut down that bill," Ruto said.

He added that opposition leaders who are opposing the bill, are doing so just because they are in the opposition.

“Stop all the politicking around the housing levy. Even those in the opposition love the housing plan and if Azimio was in power, they would be saying what I am saying," Ruto said.

Ruto was speaking on Sunday during a church service in Leshuta, Narok County.    BY THE STAR
