Governor Wanga appointed Red Cross patron for Homa Bay
Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga was on Tuesday appointed as the Red Cross patron for the county.
The Red Cross organization thanked the Governor for her commitment to working with them.
"Thank you for your commitment to working with us as the new patron of our Homa Bay branch," Red Cross said.
Red Cross expressed their willingness to work with Wanga for the well-being of the residents.
"Together with your administration, we hope to continue promoting the well-being, health and resilience of communities in Homa Bay County," the Red Cross said.
Wanga in a tweet expressed her gratitude following the appointment.
"I am humbled to have been appointed Patron of the Kenya Red Cross for Homa Bay County," she said.
She expressed readiness in her administration to work with the organization.
"We are eager to work together on disaster preparedness, health, food security, water and sanitation," Wanga said.
She further added that the organization was doing plausible work on responding to emergencies.
"Kenya Red Cross deserves special recognition for outstanding emergency response work," Wanga said.
Wanga is not the only county head to be appointed Red Cross patron.
In February this year, Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja was also appointed as the Red Cross patron of the capital.
The same month, Taita Taveta Governor Andrew Mwadime was also inducted as the county's patron for the society.
Additionally, Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Nassir was also chosen to be the patron for the coastal town. BY THE STAR
