Cops hunt for man who allegedly killed bar attendant in Uhuru estate

Police are looking for a reveller who hit and killed a bar attendant with a bottle of beer in Uhuru estate, Nairobi.

The body of Patrice Lumumba, 26, was found sprawled in his house hours after he had been hit in the head with a bottle of beer.

He had been an attendant at the Smooka Bar within Uhuru Shopping centre when a confrontation broke out between him and a reveller over a Sh300 bill on the night of June 4.

According to police, the reveller who is known in the area picked up a bottle of beer and used it to hit him in the head before fleeing the joint.

Oblivious of the injury he had sustained, he asked for a bodaboda ride to his house near the area.

The rider told police he took him to his house as he complained of headache and left him there.

He went back the following day to check on him and found him dead in bed.

The rider then called and informed police of the same before the body was moved to the mortuary.

Police are investigating the matter while hunting down the reveller identified as Idi Madegwa.

Nairobi police boss Adamson Bungei said they are looking for a known suspect.

Meanwhile, police are investigating the murder of a 56-year-old man whose body was found floating on River Chwele in Bungoma county.

The family of the deceased, Richard Wakhisi, said he had been called by an unknown person through his mobile phone on June 4 at night before he left.

The body was found floating in River Chwele the following day with deep cuts on the head and both hands, suspected to have been inflicted by a sharp object.

No arrest has been made so far and efforts to trace the killers are ongoing, police said.   BY THE STAR
