MMUST and Mean Machine relegated from Kenya Cup
Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) Rugby Club and University of Nairobi’s Mean Machine were on Saturday relegated from the Kenya Cup.
MMUST went down 18-14 to Mwamba while Mean Machine lost heavily 49-5 to former champions KCB to finish in the bottom two.
According to the Kenya Rugby Union (KRU), the bopttom two-clubs at the end of the regular season will be relegated to the second-tier KRU Championship.
MMUST will now go down after three seasons in the Kenya Cup. The Kakamega-based students were promoted to the top tier league in 2021.
Jada Abdon and Griffin Chao scored the two tries for MMUST in the defeat that saw them finish bottom on nine points.

In Nairobi, Mean Machine failed to hold off KCB after a heavy 49-5 defeat to the bankers.
Tied on 14 points alongside Cathholic Monks, the University of Nairobi students needed to atleast pick a losing bonus to avoid being relegated.
After the heavy defeat, Mean Machine will join MMUST in the KRU Championship. They go down after a point difference of negative 334 points, an inferior difference compared to Catholic Monks who lost 26-12 to Nakuru Rugby.
Meanwhile, KCB finished second behind Kabras Sugar in the Kenya Cup final standings as Kenya Harlequin and Menegai Oilers came fourth and third respectively.
