ChatGPT hires Kenyans to regulate content

The AI language processing tool has been paying Kenyan workers $1 to $2 per hour to make the AI systems safer for the public.

The developer, OpenAI sourced for Kenyan employees through Sama. Sama is an ethical AI company based in San Francisco that employs Kenyans.

Kenyans assisted chatGPT in the process of building a tool that can detect insensitive information and filter it.

ChatGPT was the most impressive technological innovation that happened in 2022. The AI can generate any type of content and have human-like conversations, from answering any type of questions to doing tasks and even giving advice. It is the friend you did not ask for.

Because of its outstanding capabilities, the AI tool acquired a vast user interface.

The AI’s ability to do so much comes from it being trained from almost all the words from the internet. During its data training what could come off as insensitive could not be easily avoided.

The OpenAI tool not being trained on what to avoid proved to be a little challenging. Its being able to construct any type of content means that it can also construct insensitive, violent, or racist content.

ChatGPT was able to describe child abuse, murder, suicide, violence, and even assault in a vivid manner. The tool was not limited to showing graphic materials leaving a disturbed image engraved in one’s memory.

With the use of Kenyans, the AI tool can be made to recognize what is inappropriate in order to make it less toxic.

ChatGPT has always been expected to do everything, and for a minute people were threatened that the AI tool would replace them.

“ChatGPT still has limitations, including relying on outdated content from 2021, serving up scientific citations that do not exist or that it cannot retrieve, and being unable to do in-depth analysis with subject matter expertise,” Sheeva Azma a science writer voiced.

All in all, even with such short comings ChatGPT outdid itself.
