Involve your children in planned demos, MP Ichung'wa tells Raila

Kikuyu Member of Parliament Kimani Ichung'wa has asked those opposing the removal of IEBC commissioners from office to involve their children in planned protests.

Ichungwa, while speaking at Embu University during an inter-denominational church service on Sunday, said they should not involve hard-working Kenyans in their planned demos slated for next week.

“Bring your children whom you have taken to EALA and those who are at home to the protests you wish to stage,” he said.

He said he wanted to see the children of Azimio la Umoja Leader Raila Odinga holding protests together with Azimio supporters.

“We are waiting, we want to see your children at the forefront of those rallies and protests with you,” he said.

Ichung'wa said that Kenyans are busy looking for the hustlers' funds for their businesses and won’t be available for demonstrations.

Raila had called for mass action to protest the suspension of four IEBC commissioners who differed with IEBC chair Wafula Chebukati over August poll presidential results.

National Assembly Minority Leader Opiyo Wandayi said the rallies would be held on December 7 after they were postponed due to national exams.

"We have decided to reschedule the start of our public engagements from November 30 to December 7, 2022, due to the ongoing national examinations. We have listened to the appeals of parents and our school-going children and we decided to obey their wishes," Mr Wandayi said.

The PG, also attended by Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, DAP-K patron Eugene Wamalwa and Kanu Executive Director George Wainaina, also resolved that the Justice and Legal Affairs Committee (JLAC) hearings against the four IEBC commissioners are a "lynch mob, a hired hit squad and an illegality with a predetermined position."     BY THE STAR
