5-minute interview: I regret not going to the US, Mbusii's co-host Lion

Lion is a radio presenter with many years of experience in the media industry best known for using urban slang language, Sheng.

He is a co-host on Radio Jambo's Mbussi na Lion Teketeke drive show.

The Star caught up with the duo for a five-minute interview on a number of issues and here's what Lion said:

I'm good at.............… Telling the truth

I'm very bad at.............Lying. If I lie I will laugh.

The last book I enjoyed reading is..........…I don’t remember reading a book, I only read newspapers. The last thing I read was the Star newspaper.

A common misconception of me is...…...That I’m a thief.

The most surprising thing that happened to me is.......Getting married and having children, I never knew I would get married and have children. So now I just come home and relax.

One of my worst childhood fears was.......Being caned by teachers. I never feared school but I was afraid of being caned.

I wish people would take more notice of.................The importance of looking for money. In life everything is all about money, keep looking for money.

My ideal night out is.................To have money because money is what will make me happy. My table should have only two men, me and Mbussi, all the others are women and fans.

In moments of weakness I............I pray

In another life I would have been...............A leader in any capacity, MCA, MP, Governor or even President.

If I was a politician, I would..........Tell Kenyans the truth. Once I get into Parliament I would first cater for my interests, get my wife and children insurance cover and life moves on smoothly.

The best age to be is...…..19. A this time you have an ID, you are energetic and women want you and are legally able to do anything you want.

The best part of my job is................Being given the freedom of creativity. That makes me enjoy my job without limitation.

In a nutshell my philosophy is...…...I use Bob Marley’s philosophy; alcohol is the destruction of a nation, herb is the healing of a nation. Simple!

My idea of perfect happiness is..…...So long as my wife and children are happy, I’m happy.

Living people I most admire...…..Jeff Mwangemi, the man who made me love radio.

My greatest achievement is ...…..Having a family, I have achieved a lot because that is not material thing. That’s a blessing.

My greatest regret is.......Not going to the US. That’s all I regret because I was supposed to go to the US after high school. I wonder how it would have panned out had I accompanied my cousins as they were leaving.

My greatest possession is..…..My children, to be specific my girls, my ladies, my little girls.

My favourite author is...…..Whoever wrote Songs of Solomon, I don’t know who wrote it but if it’s King Solomon, big up yourself!

One thing that I would change about myself is....…I don’t see anything I would change, maybe the car I drive...get myself a Lexus like one owned by President William Ruto, the one that goes for Sh18 million. I would also change my phone and get an iphone 14.

If I was to die in five minutes, my last words would be..........You only live once, enjoy your life and be open about it. If you like alcohol, get drunk, if you are corrupt, be corrupt. Let others learn from you how corruption kills society.   BY THE STAR
