Police constable arrested for abandoning duties at KCSE exam centre
A police officer was on Thursday arrested for neglecting her duties in Matungulu sub-county, Machakos County.
Police Constable Rachael Wamboi was assigned to guard a KCSE examination container at Kisukioni centre from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am when she decided to go drinking at the township.
According to a police report, she lied to her partner Constable Elias Kiptoo that she was going for supper but instead went on a drinking spree.
“She reported back drunk and incapable of handling and securing her rifle,’ the report read.
She is said to have become violent and started assaulting her colleague and boss (Corporal Joshua Komen), as the two tried to disarm her.
This was after Corporal Komen found her rifle without a magazine, which upon questioning, refused to hand it over.
This incident prompted the two to inform Matungulu Chief Inspector Ijabo Hassan, who rushed to the scene and arrested Wamboi.
According to the report, she was escorted to Tala Police Station.
Chief Inspector Hassan has since reported that her position was filed and the exam container well guarded.
“Officer replaced and the exam container is well guarded and no cause for alarm.” BY THE STAR
