Kenyan Paralympians Discontented By Grand Prix Preps

The national Paralympic team has voiced its displeasure over the insufficient number of days spent in training camp ahead of next week's World Para Athletics Grand Prix 2022 in Dubai.

Members of the team felt they needed to have spent more time in camp for optimum preparations but head coach Joseph Lomong’o was confident the team will shine at the championship.

“The way these athletes are running I am very sure we are going to come back with medals. I feel it’s not like the Paralympics in Tokyo where our athletes' performances were affected by the high temperatures. I believe we are going to register very good results,” Lomong’o said.

Seasoned 1500m and 5000m specialist Eric Sang said he hopes individual training will go a long way in pushing Kenya's hunt for medals.

“I have prepared well although the five-day camp here was not enough for us. Mostly we'll have to rely on what we learnt at pre-camp training and hope for the best," Sang stated.

The team will depart the country on Wednesday for the three-day event.    BY CITIZEN DIGITAL
