Njuri Ncheke Elders Endorse Governor Kananu's 2022 Bid

A section of Njuri Ncheke elders have endorsed Nairobi governor Ann Kananu for the gubernatorial seat in August polls.

The elders endorsed Kananu at her home in Karen Nairobi on Sunday where they were hosted by the governor.

They asked President Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga to back Kananu's bid to be the next governor of Nairobi if they needed support from the Meru community in the general election.

Governor Kananu on her part lauded the elders for the move and for standing with her in her first reign of the country’s capital since the ouster of former Nairobi governor Mike Sonko.

She expressed her commitment to serve the people of Nairobi pointing out that she was an all-around leader without a particular tribal bearing.

The county boss also acknowledged President Uhuru Kenyatta’s efforts in ensuring a smooth transition of leadership in Nairobi.

Kananu termed President Kenyatta as a gender-supportive leader who had the interests of women at heart as she also exuded confidence in bringing transformative leadership in the county.

Tunajua Ukimteua mwanamke mahali,  anayejua kwamba ukiempower mama mahali unaempower jamii nzima,” she stated.

In her quest to defend her seat as Nairobi governor, Kananu will face off with the county’s Senator Johnstone Sakaja, former MP Maina Kamanda, Margaret Wanjiru and Ann Kagure.  BY CITIZEN DIGITAL
