Green Commandos Sink Bungoma Superstars In Bukhungu
It did not take long for the match to come alive though with opportunities arrived on both ends of the pitch shortly after the match had begun but the hosts were the ones to mount extended pressure first.
With the sides separated by just two goals at kick-off, rather unsurprisingly, there was very little to split them in a cagey opening to this contest. ‘Bramwel Nabibia’ looked more threatening, but had to wait until the 21st minute for their first shot on goal through a free kick.
Erick Muranda’s men then doubled their lead on 38th minute of the first half. Moses Shikanda found himself in space, and after a disrupted start to the campaign, Mukanda found the net for the first time in the FKF Division One League this season, putting daylight between his side and Bungoma Superstars.
The second half started in largely similar fashion, with Bungoma Superstars in the ascendancy, but plenty of huff and puff wasn’t represented by the number of clear-cut chances. Game management was the name of the game now for Commandos, something they have pertinently struggled with down the years.
Few minutes into the second half, the visitors, through coach Frankline Musumba could make early changes as Lyan Kong’ani and Gregory Alubwana get to the pitch for Ezekiel Simiyu and Collins Sang’alo respectively.
Kakamega based side is yet to concede a goal this season. This is after beating Transfoc FC in their opener game.
