Milly Chebby: ‘I am immune to cyber bullies and body shaming’
My recent trip to South Africa was amazing. South Africa is such a beautiful country, I would go back again and again.
It was my first time visiting the country. Together with my husband, we were part of a Kenya-South Africa Chamber of business under Arts & Culture category where we represented our country at the KESAEXPO2021.
My ideal way to spend a vacation is relaxing and doing nothing. I honestly love to relax and unwind while on a getaway. I can stay in my room the entire day without moving a muscle. I mean, I’m on holiday.
Never in my wildest dream did I ever think I would end up being a celebrity. But life happens and we are here now and I thank God for that.
I would attribute my fame to my husband. He really pushed me to take my cooking skills to the next level. Actually he is the one who opened my cooking YouTube channel, recorded, edited the videos and uploaded them consistently.
On Instagram my account was private, he changed it to public and all that brought me to the limelight.
One goal I look forward to achieving is owning hotels and learning new recipes. I mean if you follow me, you know how much I love to cook and try out different recipes.
Motherhood made me become very intentional with everything I do. I am a better saver than before. I have also learnt to invest more.
Reason why I quit my government job which was more secure and pensionable is because I love new challenges. I found it repetitive doing the same thing every day. I had done it for eight years and I felt I needed change. Also career growth in government is very slow. You can stay in one position for 20 years, that's not what I envisioned.
I am super patient even with difficult situations although sometimes, anxiety overwhelms me.
I met my husband at the Churchill Show nine years ago. He was a creative director and I came in as a backstage manager.
One thing that struck me about him was his kindness. He was kind enough to show me the way around from the very first day I joined.
Dealing with his smoking, drinking and gambling addictions was the most difficult years of our dating. Sometimes he never returned home for over two weeks. I never saw his money, it ended up in gambling. I did everything in the house. I’m glad he is transformed now.
His gambling addiction was really bad. He would even gamble kids' school fees and rent. There was a time he gambled Sh400,000 hoping to double the amount. I remember him coming back home with only Sh23,000
Our first four years of dating were horrible. Every day I felt like giving up and walking away. I can't really tell what kept me.

Everyone from friends to my family, thought I was crazy to stick by his side. I would complain about him but never leave. It got to a point I decided to keep my relationship stress to myself.
I don’t think anyone else besides me ever believed that my husband would one day amount to something.
I still don’t believe my husband's story of being robbed dowry money. I mean with his Casino experience; I still have my doubts.
My husband and I have been body shamed and it has never stopped. At first it bothered us but we grew a thick skin. I am immune to cyber bullies and If there is one thing I have learnt, is that even if you become the president someone will still hate.
We stopped hitting the gym but we do morning or evening runs depending on our schedule of the day. BY DAILY NATION
