Kenyans' heartfelt messages to retired President Kibaki as he turned 90

 

As the Kenyan President from 2002-2012, Mwai Kibaki will be remembered by Kenyans for a legacy he built.

The third president of Kenya inherited a weak and declining economy but promised to change it and improve the system.

Kibaki will be remembered for championing free primary education, introducing basic and affordable healthcare access to all citizens and increasing school enrolment by more than 80 per cent during his tenure. 

Infrastructure also grew when he rehabilitated roads, together with his biggest project of building the eight lane -‘Thika Super Highway' which is so far the best road in Kenya and East Africa among other milestones.

On Monday, Former President Mwai Kibaki celebrated his birthday at his Muthaiga home with friends and family.

Kenyans also were not left behind in wishing him a happy birthday as he turned 90.

From various social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter, Kenyans wished ‘mzee’ good health and commemorated his tenure.

Dennis from Facebook said “He was a purposeful president despite the turbulence that came with those around him. Viva man Emilio. Mr President indeed!”
