Makueni's Mutula Kilonzo Jr ranked best performing senator - survey

 

Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo has been ranked the best performing senator in the country, this according to a recent survey by Infotrak Research.

Mutula who is serving his second term in the Senate scored 66.4 per cent beating more experienced lawmakers in the country.

Elgeyo Marakwet Kipchumba Murkomen (58.8 percent), Samburu’s Lelegwe Ltumbesi (57.2 percent), Kwale’s Issa Juma (55.4 percent) and Kakamega’s Cleophas Malala (54.8 percent) followed in that order.

Isiolo's Fatuma Dullo was ranked the best female senator. She was ranked sixth nationally.

The first-term independent senator scored 54.6 per cent.

Others in the top 10 included Aaron Cheruiyot (Kericho) 52.8 per cent, Kithure Kindiki (Tharaka Nithi) 52.6 per cent, Irungu Kang'ata (Murang'a) 52.4 per cent and Samuel Poghisio (West Pokot) at 52.1 per cent.

The findings released on Wednesday had Tana River Senator Wario Golich Juma as the worst-performing senator amongst the 47 elected lawmakers.

Wario scored a paltry 36.4 per cent.

Also in the last five worst-performing Senators include Wajir’s Abdulahi Ibrahim (39.1 per cent), Nyandarua’s Mwangi Paul Githiomi (39.8 per cent), Trans Nzoia’s Michael Mbito (39.9 per cent) and Kajiado’s Mpayeei Salau (40.1 per cent).

The study was conducted between November/December 2019 and January 2020.

The average quota sample was 800.

Overall the samples used translated in a margin of error between +/- 2 -4 at 95 per cent confidence.
