DPP Haji reappoints Taib, Kihara as public prosecutors

 

Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji has reappointed Taib Ali Taib and James Muruthi Kihara as public prosecutors.

In a Gazette notice dated November 11, Haji said the top lawyers will serve for two more years effective January 16, 2021.

" ...being qualified as private practitioners to be public prosecutors for a further period of two years, " he said.

The top lawyers were picked to provide legal services to the office of the public prosecutor as the pressure to deal with crime in the country intensified in 2018.

The team was part of prosecutors who helped with the investigations on Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu corruption allegations.

They should determine whether criminal proceedings against Mwilu should continue or not.
