Court upholds death sentence against prison beauty queen Ruth Kamande

 

The Court of Appeal has upheld the death sentence of 2016 against Ruth Kamande, who was accused of fatally stabbing her boyfriend 22 times at Buruburu estate in 2015.

High Court judge Jessie Lessit sentenced Kamande to death in 2017 saying the prosecution had proven beyond reasonable doubt that the accused committed the offence.

Kamande, who was later crowned Miss Langata Women's Prison beauty queen while behind bars, appealed the sentence which has been confirmed by the Court of Appeal.
