Raila doesn't love me anymore, MP cries

An MP has bitterly complained that he is no longer informed or invited whenever ODM leader Raila Odinga (pictured) visits the area. The legislator who is serving his third term was once the darling of the party leader and could not be missed in his entourage when the Opposition chief visited the region. Besides, he used to play a key role in such visits. But it seems things have changed and he is nowadays persona non grata around the ODM leader. A little bird on Monday eavesdropped on a conversation in which the politico was bitterly complaining about how one of the area leaders has managed to drive a wedge between him and his party leader.

A former lawmaker who was known for his philanthropy seems to be finding it hard to believe his diminishing fortunes after losing in the last election. Determined to show those around him that he is still liquid, the ex-MP has resorted to withdrawing huge sums of money every morning and handing the whole bundle to his only remaining aide – in a desperate public demonstration that things have not changed in his world. Come evening, a little bird whispers to Corridors, the Mheshimiwa rushes to the bank to redeposit the cash.

Some MPs on Tuesday were celebrating after the Bill to create the Ward Development Fund flopped in the National Assembly. Reason? According to the legislators, some of the MCAs will get ‘horns’ to challenge them even if they were allowed to operate a kitty in the wards. The MPs argued that giving them a Fund would amount to creating two centres of powers in the constituencies. They vowed to bring down any such proposal in the future.
