Policeman shoots man after he snatches gun, attempts to flee
A police officer has shot and killed a man who had snatched his firearm in Bondeni, Mombasa and attempted to escape with it.
The unidentified man is reported to have snatched the gun from the officer who was guarding a bank along Digo Road in Bondeni.
The man was killed by the police officer after a crowd caught him.
CROWD RESPONDS
"The man took the firearm and started running with it. The officer started shouting, prompting the crowd to respond and got hold of that man," said an eyewitness.
The crowd managed to arrest the man after he was unable to use the firearm.
"The officer took the gun and shot him," said Yasir Bakari, who was among those who responded to help the officer.
The body of the man was taken to Coast General Hospital mortuary.
