Two men were charged with breach of public order in connection with an Arsenal player, police said.

Ferhat Ercan of Highgate and Salaman Ekinci of Tottenham were arrested Thursday in front of Gunners star Mesut Ozil's home in North London.

Ozil and Sead Kolasinac were not in the Arsenal team for the opening match of the Premier League Sunday in Newcastle because of "new security incidents".

Both players were targeted by car pirates in North London last month.

According to reports, the two men were reportedly arrested after being involved in an altercation with security personnel in front of Ozil's home.

"Two men were charged under Section 4a of the Public Order Act following an incident in Camden on Thursday, August 8," said Met.

Ercan and Ekinci, both 27, are scheduled to appear in Highbury Corner Court of First Instance on September 6.

Police said they treated the public order offense and car hijacking as separate incidents.

Midfielder Ozil, 30, and defender Kolasinac, 26, were dismissed from a friendly against Lyon after the car-jacking attempt at Golders Green in July.

After the attack, Kolasinac posted a photo of himself and Ozil on social media, adding, "I think we're fine."

Arsenal said Friday that the players were excluded from the squad on Sunday after "new security incidents that are being investigated by the police."

"The well-being of our players and their families is always a top priority and we made this decision after discussion with the players and their representatives," said the club.
