Police have arrested four people as authorities struggled to deal with the chaos that rocked Knut House.

The commotion erupted at the headquarters of the Kenya National Teachers Union in Nairobi on Thursday morning after a number of executive members came to attend a meeting to sack Secretary General Wilson Sossion.

National Executive Board members tried to hold a meeting even after it was stopped by the Labor Court on Wednesday.

Executives forced their way into Knut House on Mfangano Street.

It was not immediately clear whether the secretary general, who was also a nominated member of parliament, was in office when officials stormed the building.

EXPULSION

The charging officer was then arrested by police officers who were deployed to the scene a few minutes after 9 am.

Judge Byram Ongaya on Wednesday suspended the meeting after Sossion submitted an urgent request.

Through lawyer Judith Guserwa, Mr Sossion argued that some NEC members planned to move him illegally from the office.

Ms Guserwa said NEC members did not have the power under the Knut constitution to convene or continue with the postponed board meeting.

However, Knut officials on Thursday insisted that Sossion must leave the union, blaming him for their problems with the Teacher Service Commission, their employer.
