Kisumu chief faces defilement charges

Ang'oga Assistant ChiefAn assistant chief in Kisumu County has been charged with attempted defilement of a 15-year-old girl.

Ang’oga Assistant Chief Caleb Odundo Oyende was charged before a Maseno court on Tuesday and was on Sh200,000 bond.
Prosecutors wanted Mr Oyende detained but Magistrate Reuben Kipng’eno declined.
He however warned the suspect against contacting the victim or witnesses.
The case will be mentioned on April 17 and heard on June 11.
This is not the first time such an incident has happened in Seme sub-county.
In February, a chief was sentenced to 20 years in prison after he was found guilty of repeatedly defiling a 14-year-old girl.
