Aden Duale names five PSC nominees

Aden DualeMajority Leader Aden Duale has named Borabu MP Ben Momanyi of Wiper as a nominee to the Parliamentary Service Commission, throwing into a spin the Opposition’s plans.
Mr Duale had in the morning notified the National Assembly of his motion tomorrow on voting for the Jubilee Party nominees: Adan Keynan (Eldas), Beth Mugo (Nominated), Dr Naomi Shaaban (Taveta) and Aaron Cheruiyot (Kericho).
He then warned the Minority Leader, John Mbadi, that if he did not get the names of the Opposition’s three nominees, he would go ahead to name Ben Momanyi, whose nomination was communicated last week by Wiper’s National Executive Committee.
The Majority Leader lived up to his threat towards the end of the sitting on Wednesday morning by adding Mr Momanyi to the list that will be subjected to debate and a vote on Thursday afternoon.
It is not yet clear whether Minority Leader John Mbadi submitted Nasa’s nominees – Mutula Kilonzo Junior (Makueni, Wiper), Aisha Jumwa (Malindi, ODM) and Gladys Wanga (Homa Bay Woman Rep, ODM).
On Tuesday, Wiper Secretary-General Jared Siso said the party would not withdraw Mr Momanyi’s nomination as proposed by some.
"We are going to fight it out on the floor of the House. We have followed the rules, we did submit our candidate as per what the Speaker wanted so we don't understand who is this guy Mbadi. He is overstepping and he looks so arrogant. The party has no intention whatsoever to withdraw."
Amani National Congress MP Godfrey Osotsi protested against the inclusion of Wiper’s nominee rather than the names reportedly submitted by Nasa.
“We don’t expect the Majority Leader to tell us what to do. I expect Minority Leader John Mbadi to present the names from our coalition. Any letter from a party must be accompanied by an exit letter from the coalition,” said Mr Osotsi.
