Two people who were marking lanes between Safari Park and Homeland hotels along Thika Road have died after a car knocked them down.
The two, both female, died on the spot according to witnesses and police sources.
The accident happened mid-afternoon Tuesday.
Road users complained of a huge gridlock on the busy highway.
The 50-kilometre road, one of the country’s most significant infrastructure projects, has had a significant impact on the economy.
However, statistics from the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) show that the road registers the second highest number of deaths through accidents after the Nairobi-Mombasa highway.
One of the most recent deadly accidents occurred near the Roasters bus stage on September 6, when 10 people died.
The accident involved two public service vehicles and a lorry.
