A man, who can only be described as the most stupid thief, was shot dead on Sunday morning at Shauri Moyo Police Station after he was spotted sneaking out through the fence carrying a stolen television set.
According to a police report, plain clothes police officers spotted the man and his accomplice sneaking out of the compound.
GUN
The report adds that when the two were ordered to stop one of them drew a pistol and shot at the police, who shot back. One man was killed while the other escaped.
Police identified the slain man by his alias Njoro. A 55-inch television set and a homemade gun were recovered at the scene.
In another incident in Kawangware, Nairobi County, a police officer was arrested for stealing a pistol and arming a gangster.
The officer, attached to the General Service Unit’s Recce Squad, is said to have stolen the Jericho pistol from Ruiru GSU Armoury.
During the operation carried out by the Flying Squad, Presidential Escort and DCI Dagoretti officers, the suspected gangster was also arrested and the firearm, loaded with 15 bullets, recovered.
