Two people died in a road crash on the busy Ndori-Bondo road in Siaya County.
The drivers died from burns after the vehicles burst into flames after collision.
Siaya police commander Sarah Duncan said the Probox driver, Mr Godfrey Ojwando, died on the spot while his matatu counterpart died on arrival at Bondo Sub-County Hospital. CASUALTIES
Mrs Duncan said the Probox was heading towards Bondo town and the matatu to Ndori.
Mr Ojwando was alone but the matatu had 10 passengers who sustained serious injuries and were rushed to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Referral Hospital.
SPEEDING
Mrs Duncan added that the accident occured at around 9.00pm on Saturday and it is believed that Mr Ojwando was speeding when he veered off the road colliding with the matatu.
Police have since launched investigations into the cause of the accident but believe that the slippery road, following the heavy downpour, might have contributed to the incident.
“We have launched investigations into the accident, which led to the death of two people and we will make public the cause of the accident,” Mrs Duncan said.
