Cop collapses, dies outside his house in Magena, Kisii county

Police are investigating an incident where a police officer collapsed and died in Kiango, Magena, Kisii County.

Sergeant Good Mufoya was in charge of the Kiango Patrol Base at the time of his death.

Witnesses said the December 23, 2025 incident occurred after he walked out of his house to respond to a mobile phone call and collapsed outside.

His colleagues described him as a hardworking officer.

The cause of death was not immediately established.

The body was moved to a local mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures.

Elsewhere, in Embaringo, Kieni, Nyeri County, a 78-year-old man was found dead in his bed after he was allegedly assaulted by a person known to him during an altercation.

The deceased, identified as James Mubia, did not seek medical attention after the incident. He was later found dead in his bed, and the body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy, police said.

In Homa Bay’s Pap Ndege area, the body of a man was found in a maize plantation following a suspected murder.

The man had been stabbed, and the body dumped near the Kabunde airstrip fence. He had been stabbed in the head.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and identification.

In Kiugoine, Nakuru County, a man was lynched in an alleged failed robbery incident. The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.

In Chepkanga, Uasin Gishu County, two suspects were on Tuesday lynched by a group of boda boda riders.

Police said the incident happened along the Eldoret–Iten road after a chase. The two were riding on a motorcycle when they were confronted and stoned to death.

The boda boda riders stole their motorcycle and escaped from the scene, police said. The bodies were moved to the mortuary pending identification and autopsy.

Police said they are investigating the incident.

Police discourage mob lynching and term it criminal, noting that most such incidents remain unsolved and under investigation.

Statistics show that some victims are framed and killed for ulterior motives.

Separately, a 74-year-old Portuguese national was found dead in his house in the Capitol Hill area of Nairobi.

He was identified as Mario Verissimo Horta Lopes, police said.

He was found lying unconscious in his apartment and was rushed to hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.

Police said they are yet to establish the cause of death.
