Major roads leading to Nairobi CBD closed ahead of Saba Saba protests

major roads leading to Nairobi Central Business District (CBD) were closed by police on Monday July 7, 2025 as from 5 am, due the expected Saba Saba protests later in the day.

As a result motorists are facing massive disruptions after police set up multiple roadblocks across key routes into and out of the capital city.

The roadblocks have affected both private vehicles and public service vehicles (PSVs), leaving many commuters stranded.

Roads closed as at 6:30 AM:

•⁠  ⁠Thika Road: Roysambu, Guru Nanak

•⁠  ⁠Wayaki Way: Kangemi Flyover

•⁠  ⁠Mombasa Road: GM Motors

•⁠  ⁠Ngong Road: City Mortuary Roundabout

•⁠  ⁠Valley Road: DOD & Integrity Center

•⁠  ⁠Juja Road: Pangani Interchange

•⁠  ⁠Lang’ata Road: Near T-Mall

Heavy Security Deployment Observed at:

•⁠  ⁠Uhuru Highway/Kenyatta Avenue Roundabout

•⁠  ⁠Uhuru Highway/Haile Selassie Roundabout

•⁠  ⁠Moi Avenue

•⁠  ⁠Parliament Road & Harambee Avenue

•⁠  ⁠Kenyatta Avenue

•⁠  ⁠Normal patrols along Ronald Ngala Street and River Road

Roads near Parliament, City Hall, and State House remained fully blocked with heavy deployment of anti-riot police officers.
