South Africa: Forty-five out of the 46 occupants of a bus died in a nasty accident in northern Johannesburg on Thursday, March 29. An eight-year-old girl was the only survivor; she was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after the crash. “The bus had a total of 46 people on board, including the driver. It has a Botswana registration number, and a process to confirm the citizenship of the victims will only commence after the foreign missions of both South Africa and Botswana have verified their citizenships. Only one child, an 8-year-old, survived the accident and is receiving medical attention at a nearby hospital,” said the Limpopo Department of Transport. The driver of the bus lost control before diving off the Mma Matlakala Bridge down a 50-metre gorge. The tragic road carnage added to many others in recent days in which several lives were lost.
