Kibet Bull’s Mum Says She’d Borrowed KSh 100k to Buy Son Air Ticket to Israel Before His Abduction

Cartoonist Gideon Kibet Bull’s family is over the moon after he was released on Monday, January 6.  The young man who was abducted on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, was freed hours after his brother Ronny Kiplangat, who was abducted three days earlier, resurfaced. Their mother could not contain her delight as she expressed her overflowing joy following the relieving news. Which course was Kibet pursuing? “He was abducted three days before he was expected to travel to Israel after securing a scholarship to study master’s in agricultural engineering. He had asked me to get him the money for the air ticket. I tried my best to get KSh 100,000 plus pocket money. Since I did not have that money, I was forced to borrow from someone and return it with interest,” she said. Following the boy’s release, Mutai disclosed plans to contact the school about the learning opportunity to confirm whether the scholarship was still available. “I had purposed to reach out and talk to the school so that he can continue his studies,” she said. Taking to his X account on Monday evening, January 6, Kibet shared his harrowing experience, stating that he was dropped off in Luanda, Vihiga county, between 3am and 4am.
